What are toners
If you would read a skin care routine or a skin care regimen tip, it usually involves three main products that you must use. These so-called “must-have” beauty products include the facial wash, the toner, and the moisturiser. You can easily understand what a facial wash is and its purpose why you should this product. The same goes for the moisturisers. However, not everyone is aware of what toners are and what good it can bring to our skin.
In the field of cosmetics, toner is a product that would not only clean the skin but it would help shrink the skin’s pores as well. More often than not, it is used only in the face. There are some people who think that a toner does not really play an important role in the skin. Therefore, they just use cold water or ice to close their pores instead.
There are different ways on how a toner can be applied on the face. The most common way is to apply it on a damp cotton wool before spreading it in your skin. It can also be sprayed in one’s face with the help of a vaporiser. On the other hand, it can also be applied as a facial mask. Usually, toner facial masks are just in a piece of gauze. You put the gauze in your face and just leave it for a couple of minutes.
Before you head to the beauty section and buy yourself a toner, it is important that you know the different types of toners. First is the freshener, also known as the skin bracer. This is the mildest toner since it does not contain alcohol. Some of the ingredients of the skin bracer include water and glycerine – a mild form of humectants. The skin bracer is advisable for those who have dry skin, normal skin, an even sensitive skin.
On the other hand, if you want a stronger toner, then you must choose the Skin Tonic. This is slightly stronger than the skin bracers since it has alcohol in it aside from humectants and water in its ingredients. More often than not, skin tonics have at least 20 percent of alcohol in it. Therefore, this is not advisable for those who have sensitive skin.
Last is the astringent. Because it has more than 20 percent of alcohol, this is considered as the strongest form of toner. It can be applied in the problem areas only of the skin to prevent it from drying.
